Wolmer’s, KC, Calabar notch second wins in Manning Cup action
Manning Cup title contenders Wolmer’s Boys and Kingston College notched their second wins from as many starts on Tuesday when action resumed in the ISSA-FLOW Manning Cup competition.
Wolmer’s blanked Haile Selassie 2-0 at Haile Selassie to lead Group A with the maximum six points. Wolmer’s leads the group on goal difference over Tivoli Gardens, who also kept a clean sheet while scoring three against home team Pembroke Hall.
Meanwhile, Bridgeport managed to stay atop Group B on goal difference following their 0-0 draw with St. Andrew Technical who were playing to a stalemate for the second consecutive match day. STATHS drew 1-1 with defending champions Jamaica College on Saturday. JC took advantage of the draw to join Bridgeport on four points after they rebounded from their weekend draw to defeat Mona High 3-1 at Mona.
Elsewhere, Kingston College followed up their 6-0 drubbing of Spanish Town on Saturday with a 12-1 mauling of Ardenne at Ardenne. The win puts the purple and whites on top of Group D with six points and a healthy goal difference over Excelsior High School who beat Norman Manley 2-0 at Norman Manley.
Over at Red Hills Road, a seemingly rejuvenated Calabar High School followed up their 5-0 win over Johnathan Grant High on Saturday with a 3-1 victory over Charlie Smith to top Group G over Eltham who travelled to Cedar Grove High to win 2-0.
In other action on Tuesday, Johnathan Grant edged Campion College 1-0, Greater Portmore beat Spanish Town by a similar margin while Papine and Donald Quarrie played to a 0-0 stalemate
