Caribbean Airlines onboard with Jamaica's Reggae Girlz

By December 05, 2018

Caribbean Airlines is now the official airline of Jamaica’s world-cup bound Reggae Girlz, the Jamaica Football Federation announced on Wednesday.

The Jamaican Senior Women’s team historically qualified for the FIFA Women’s World Cup for the first time ever last October when they finished third at the CONCACAF Women’s Championships in the United States.

Since then the JFF has been working towards acquiring support – financial and otherwise – as the squad begins preparations for their campaign in France in 2019.

As such, the partnership comes at a very opportune time as in addition to the Senior Reggae Girlz, the National Under-17 and Under-20 Reggae Girlz will begin their own campaign for world cup glory, beginning at the Caribbean and CONCACAF levels.

"There is a lot of focus on the women's program, starting with FIFA and the JFF is also ensuring that the country's very talented women footballers are facilitated to do their best and make the country and the region proud,” said JFF President Michael Ricketts, who urged other corporate entities to come onboard.

“The JFF cannot do it alone, and the support of Caribbean Airlines and others who are giving support is very much appreciated. Caribbean Airlines has once again shown why it is a leader in the region."

Meanwhile, CEO of Caribbean Airlines Mr Garvin Medera said the Reggae Girlz has been an inspiration to other Caribbean nations, which was among the factors contributing to the partnership.

"We are honoured to join the Reggae Girlz on their truly extraordinary journey,” he said.

“The team represents the quintessential spirit of Jamaica; the work ethic, the verve, and the optimism. The Reggae Girlz have inspired us all, and Caribbean Airlines is honoured to support the mission as they continue to show the world what they can do.”
