The Windies Women suffered a demoralizing end to the three-match ODI series against New Zealand as Sophie Devine’s solid all-round showing led the hosts to a 205-run victory to end the series 3-0 in Christchurch.

Sent in to bat Devine’s 73 unbeaten added to the early foundation set by captain Suzie Bates’ 89 as the Kiwis piled up 310 for 5 in their turn at the crease.  In response, Windies captain Stafanie Taylor was the highest scorer with 26 as the regional team was bundled out for 105.  With the ball, Devine then claimed 3 for 24.

The Windies did manage an early breakthrough when opener Lauren Down was dismissed in the fifth over.  Amy Satterthwaite then joined Bates at the crease and began to build a solid partnership with Bates.  The duo went on to set the White Ferns second wicket record before  Satterthwaite departed for 69 off 81 deliveries to leave New Zealand at 167-1.

Devine, who had opened in the first two matches, came in at No. 5, and was aggressive from the outset.  She put together strong partnerships with Katey Martin and Anna Peterson to push the Ferns past 300 for the first time this series.

The Windies were in trouble early on after Kycia Knight was run out in the third over.  Hayley Matthews followed soon after to leave the West Indies at 21 for 2 and when Taylor became the second wicket for seamer Holly Huddleston not too long after there was no recovery.
