Sunshine Girls goal defence Stacian Facey has signed to play with the Celtic Dragons when the Vitality Netball SuperLeague resumes in early 2019.

Facey, who has been a member of Jamaica’s senior team since 2014, was part Jamaica’s silver-medal winning team at last month’s Fast5 Netball tournament in Australia.

She said she was upbeat about signing her first professional contract.

“I am very excited to go over there,” she told Sportsmax.TV Thursday, explaining that she expects to leave for Glasgow later this year after her exams are over. Facey is pursuing a degree in Physical Education at the MICO University in Kingston.

She also believes representing the Dragons will help her become a better player. “Playing for the Celtic Dragons will help me get better for the upcoming World Cup next summer and I am excited to go and meet my new teammates,” she said.

Facey is the latest defensive player signed by the Dragons as the new season approaches.

They resigned Nia Jones as well as Lucy Howells and shooter Lucy Herdman.
